Amino Acid HPLC Columns

Hsol Amino Acid HPLC Column

Hipsoul® (uHPLCs®) Hsol Amino is an HPLC specialty column designed for natural and synthetic amino acids—high polarity, ionization and isomer-rich samples.

Optimized stationary-phase chemistry, particle-size distribution and packing deliver precise separation and faster detection for biochemistry, food testing, pharmaceutical R&D and agricultural analysis.

Catalog formats: 4.6 × 250 mm, 3 μm / 5 μm, 120 Å (P1F0B-00733 / P1F0B-00726), compatible with UV, FLD, PDA and MS detectors.

Features

Built for amino acid polarity, ionization and isomer separation—with efficient peaks for routine HPLC workflows.

Amino-acid selective3 / 5 μm120 Å≥ 15,000 N/mTailing ≤ 1.2UV / FLD / PDA / MS
  • High-selectivity separation — Stationary phase tuned for amino/carboxyl groups and side-chain structure; resolves isomers such as leucine/isoleucine and common derivatives (OPA / FMOC / PITC).
  • Efficient, faster runs — Narrow particle-size distribution (3 μm designs) with optimized packing; theoretical plate count ≥ 15,000 N/m, high resolution and symmetric peaks (tailing factor ≤ 1.2). Typical single-sample analysis can be shortened to about 15–30 minutes.
  • Broad method compatibility — Supports reversed-phase, ion-exchange and hydrophilic-interaction modes for matrices such as biofluids, food extracts, fermentation broths and drug preparations; compatible with mainstream derivatization methods.
  • Stability for routine use — High-purity silica reduces metal-impurity interference. Continuous service life can reach about 500–1,000 injections with gradual efficiency loss. Polymer-matrix options are available where stronger acid/base resistance is required.
  • Low detection limits — Strong fit with fluorescence and MS detection; amino acid LOD can reach about 0.1–1.0 μmol/L for trace analysis needs.

Care & Use

Activation, sample prep, mobile phase and storage guidance from the product specification.

  • Activation — Before first use, flush with methanol/acetonitrile (50:50) for 30 minutes at 1.0 mL/min, then equilibrate with mobile phase until the baseline is stable.
  • Sample preparation — Derivatize amino acids when required; avoid high salt/protein contamination of the bed; filter with a 0.22 μm membrane.
  • Mobile phase — Reversed-phase commonly uses methanol or acetonitrile with aqueous phosphate/acetate buffers; ion-exchange often uses pH gradient elution. Avoid strongly corrosive solvents (e.g. concentrated HCl or NaOH).
  • Storage — Short term (≤ 1 week): methanol/water (80:20). Long term (≥ 1 month): pure methanol; store at 4–30 °C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Maintenance — After use, flush with mobile phase 10–15 minutes, then methanol ~20 minutes. If pressure rises abnormally, reverse-flush with methanol at low flow (0.5 mL/min) or replace the guard column.

FAQ

Answers based on the Hsol Amino product specification sheet.

01 What is the Hsol Amino column designed for?

It is an HPLC column optimized for amino acids (natural and synthetic), including polar, ionizable species and isomers such as leucine/isoleucine, as well as common derivatives (OPA / FMOC / PITC).

02 Which particle sizes and catalog SKUs are available?

Catalog sizes are 4.6 × 250 mm with 3 μm (P1F0B-00733) and 5 μm (P1F0B-00726), both 120 Å. Additional specifications can be customized—contact our sales engineers.

03 What pH and pressure limits apply?

The documented operating window is pH 1.0–8.0, typical maximum temperature 60 °C, and pressure rating ≤ 40 MPa.

04 Which detectors are compatible?

UV, fluorescence (FLD), diode-array (PDA) and mass spectrometry (MS) detectors are listed as compatible in the product specification.

05 Do amino acid samples require derivatization?

Yes for most workflows—amino acids typically require derivatization (except when using a non-derivatization column workflow). Filter samples with a 0.22 μm membrane and avoid high salt or protein load on the bed.

06 What support is included?

Complimentary method consultation for amino acid analysis, technical support with troubleshooting guidance within 48 hours, and a test report with each column batch.
